Welcome Fellow Clinician

What has brought you here?

Mindfulness interests people for many different reasons.

Burnt out, compassion-fatigued and morally distressed by our current work environment?

Lacking meaning and drive despite being in the job you worked your entire adult life to get?

Maybe your doing ok but want to see if mindfulness can help you flourish rather than just get by?

Or, perhaps you are just curious about how your mind works?

I think I have answered yes to all of these questions at some point. Developing mindfulness through meditation offers a way of exploring, and even changing, our relationship with thoughts, feelings and other people for the better. It is not the panacea it can be made out to be, and does take time to learn and develop, but it can have profound effects.

The Still Practising Project was set up to introduce, sustain and deepen meditation practice amongst clinicians. I have found meditation practices profoundly helpful in my personal and professional life and feel that more meditation in the caring professions is (almost) always a good thing.

There is a regular drop-in session (every other Monday from 7:30-8:45 pm) and a course coming up soon (starting Wed 5th Feb 7-9 pm). See below to book. Everyone is welcome. Whether you have a regular meditation practice, are sceptical or are a complete beginner we aim to include all clinicians including those not currently working, or retired.

I'm happy to answer any questions you may have (hello@stillpractising.org). I've collected some responses on the FAQ section of the website too.

I hope we will meet soon,

James

p.s. Let me know if you would like to get involved too. So far there are only three of us but I'm hoping we'll grow over time.
